BMR WINTER UPDATE

Winter Update

We’ve filmed another winter update from the Railway – lots to talk about!

Storm Bert

Christmas didn’t start well at the BMR, with Storm Bert arriving and creating a huge landslide between Pant and Pontsticill.  This meant we had to halt all of our Santa Special trains, and resulted in lots of disappointing customers.

Our sister railway, the Vale of Rheidol, sent their works gang, and we slewed the track accross, allowing us to get our works trains up to the slip.  We then reinforced the bank with over 200 tonnes of backfill, before getting the repair signed off.

We were just about to run again and then Storm Darragh arrived, so we had to cancel another day!  After than we successfully ran all of our Santa Services!

Works activity

Our steam locos are stripped ready for their annual inspections.  The Forney new build is progressing and has now had the boiler placed on the frames and a smokebox if being fabricated.

Trains

We are running our TU7 Diesel out for the February half term.  Steam trains run again from 5th April.
